Unless you came here to see this, you may be asking yourself 'What on Earth is he on about?' Well, to put it in simple terms, a turbocharger gas turbine is a simple way to make a running gas turbine engine from an automotive turbocharger! You may well ask WHY build one of these things? The answer is very easy - because I want to!

History
I have always thought about building a gas turbine from a turbocharger but have never taken it further than a thought until I read an article in New Scientist magazine about gas turbine turbochargers. I had never imagined that anyone would have actually made one of these beasts (and I now use the term beasts advisedly) and was really surprised to discover the large number of similar minded people (see LINKS) who have built working gas turbine engines. I started collecting parts on the day after New Scientist was published and started construction of the turbine on Monday 10th August 1998. I had a running gas turbine on Saturday 15th August 1998 (1 week of my holiday spent welding, drilling and obtaining parts).

April 2004 - NEW - Pulse Jet Engine

March 1999 - TurboTurbine Version 2 - Big changes and PICTURES (please be patient whilst loading)

August 1998 - TurboTurbine Version 1 - Read all about the first attempt.

Friendly advice to aspiring Turbine Builders - Please read this important page.
